The title of the cartoon says it all. The park was a place where everyone can have fun – not just for the elite and privileged few.

P.S: Could it be that the young guard chasing away the old guard at the ornamental miniature cave represent Lim Chong Eu and Tan Cheng Lock? In March 1958 MCA Party Elections, the 38-year-old Lim Chong Eu won presidency over the 74-year-old Tan Cheng Lock.

P.P.S: Do the initials V.T.S and K.L.D written on the men playing the see saw stand for V.T. Sambanthan and K.L. Devaser? V. T Sambanthan succeeded K.L. Devaser as the MIC President back in 1955. K.L Devaser was also the government backbencher who criticised the changes made to Article 10 (the right to freedom of speech, assembly and association). The changes to the draft Constitution gave more powers to the executive and parliament and eliminate the possibility of judicial review on the rights granted by Article 10. Despite his objections, the Legislative Council approved the modified draft. Experts suggest that freedom of speech, assembly and association were intended to be restricted from the beginning. Source: Wikipedia entry based on the the doctoral dissertation written by Rais Yatim.

P.P.P.S: Could the politician flying the ‘Pioneer’ kite be Tun Abdul Razak? (The honorific title ‘Tun’ was added only because his name is too generic without the title.)
